(CLICK on the picture to see more.) The karst cave "Prohodna" (which means "the passage") is located in a gorge passing through the Balkan Mountain range. The cave is huge: 262 meters long and from 35 to 45 meters high. It has two entrances and the higher one is used for bungee jumping. But the place is mostly known for its two holes in the ceiling, which - from a certain angle - look like eyes. That's why the cave is also called "The Eyes of God"...

Yesterday I visited the small farmer's market "Roman Wall" (Rimska stena), which is organised around an architectural monument in the district of Lozenets. I was overwhelmed by all the homemade and tasty looking products and the fruits and vegetables. Corresponding to the season, there are a lot of pumpkins and pulse... By the way, the rice is also grown in Bulgaria.

Temperatures are already quite low, but people as well as animals are still outside, trying to catch some rays during midday - like this dog in the district of Lozenets.

This so called "Chichko trevichko" (which means something like "grass uncle") is a present that I got from a group of students at the end of the course. Initially, the uncle is bald, but when you water it every day, grass starts to grow slowly on his head. The "chichko trevichko" is very popular in Bulgaria and I like this little thing, because it brings colour and a smile into my apartment.

(CLICK on the picture to see more.) The Seven Rila Lakes are situated in the northwestern part of the Rila Mountain chain in southwestern Bulgaria. The area with these glacial lakes is one of most popular places in the Bulgarian mountains and fortunately, I managed to go there together with a friend last weekend before the first snow comes... Since we stayed over in a hut at the upper station of a lift, which brings you close to the lakes, we were the firsts to hike there in the morning and...

Autumn has arrived and brings amazing colours to Bulgaria. Like on this hiking trail in Rila Mountains, which was fully covered by yellow leaves. I took this picture today in the afternoon, on our way back from the Seven Rila Lakes down the the village of Sapareva Banya. Together with a friend, I spent the whole weekend in the mountains and I can barely stand on my feet now because of all the hinking, but it was definitely worth it!
